The ease at which obama has talked about the fun he’s had is a far cry from Clinton no-inhale cop-out of 20 years ago, which not only reflects the perceptual evolution of drug use in the cultural dialogue but also the candor and realness with which Obama approaches publicly life and its inevitable mistakes and transgressions (that is, ones that don’t involve psychological torture [ahem, Romney]).
I’m really surprised pundits on the other side of the country’s deep cultural rift don’t publicly view his well documented associations with Maui Wowie and Columbian Snow as a morally damning indicator of a wild, reckless, bad example of a president, a charge amplified in the face of his competitor’s lifelong abstinence.
